When radical left wing Labour Party leader Harry Perkins becomes prime minister, it looks as though Britain really is on the path to socialism through parliament.

He wants to remove US military bases from Britain, scrap nuclear weapons, and curb the newspaper monopolies.

But despite a landslide victory, Perkins then faces the real fight—from the establishment and their US allies.

This classic BBC series from 1988, now released on DVD, is based on Chris Mullin's earlier novel of the same name.
