The truth is that there is a vast difference between "free trade" and "fair trade", and in this article I will prove that all true conservatives and all true liberals should be completely against the insane trade policies of the federal government. Yes, we will always need to trade with other nations. Other nations make or have things that we need to trade for. Balanced trade relationships with other nations that have similar economies and that share similar values can be very beneficial. For example, our trading relationship with Canada, though not perfect, is generally beneficial to both sides. However, the United States also has dozens of trading relationships that are highly destructive to the U.S. economy. There are some predatory nations that are blatantly and openly cheating and everyone can see it. They are getting away with bloody murder and they are robbing us blind. The United States of America is being taken advantage of, and as a result thousands of good businesses are being destroyed and millions of good jobs are being lost. If you are an American and you are in favor of all of the unfair trade that is currently going on, then either you don't know much about economics or you actually want to see the U.S. economy be destroyed.  |

Seven months of the uprising in Syria have seen three thousand people killed according to the latest UN tally. And with rumours of army defectors joining the opposition, the gap between the two sides in the conflict is widening. As Tesa Arcilla has been finding out, while the capital is firmly supporting the President, other parts of the country refuse to tolerate his regime any longer.
Occupy Wall Street protesters have won their first battle, after a mass clean-up effort by New York city officials was cancelled. Activists against corporate greed considered it an attempt to undermine the month-long rally. A little earlier RT spoke to F. William Engdahl, author of 'Gods of Money: Wall Street and the Death of the American Century'. He told us these protests are arguably the best thing that's happened since the financial crisis struck in 2008. 
The US President has taken a firm stance against Iran, promising tough sanctions against the country over claims it was plotting to kill the Saudi ambassador to Washington. Two Iranians were charged with trying to hire members of a Mexican drug cartel to carry out the attack - something Tehran has dismissed as baseless. But Barack Obama says there's enough evidence of Iran's guilt and is calling on the international community to make it 'pay for its behavior' by further isolating Tehran. The US is now considering sanctions on Iran's Сentral Bank, promising even more pressure. Professor Seyed Mohammad Marandi from the University of Tehran says Iran will deal with any pressure. 
In the US, hundreds of Occupy Wall Street protesters are celebrating their first victory. Plans for a mass clean-up of New York's Zucotti Park, which the activists against corporate greed considered an attempt to force them out, have been cancelled. 
The European Central Bank has called on national governments to now do their part to ease the debt burden. Jean-Claude Trichet spoke ahead of a key meeting of world finance ministers, who are gathering in Paris to hammer out solutions to the crisis. The Fitch agency has also downgraded Spain's rating, as well as the creditworthness of several UK and Swiss banks. And Portugal is warning its deficit-cutting efforts are well off track. The Country's Prime Minster warns of deepening hardship next year with more pay cuts and tax increases ahead.
